Cherokee Nation Businesses (CNB), a wholly owned tribal company of the Cherokee Nation, is accepting submissions for a wood-carved or metal-fashioned statue for permanent public display in the entrance lobby of a newly constructed clinic newly constructed Wilma P. Mankiller Health Center Addition in Stilwell, Oklahoma. LA 25-05 requires all Cherokee Nation construction and/or renovation projects $500,000+ to set aside 1% of the total project cost for the procurement of culturally appropriate art. The use of these funds allows the Cherokee Nation to share our rich history, culture and heritage through visual art. CNB only accepts bids from Cherokee Nation citizens who can provide identification as such and artists previously designated Cherokee National Treasures. ALL ARTISTS MUST SUBMIT CHEROKEE NATION IDENTIFICATION CARD (IF APPLICABLE) WITH THEIR BID SUBMISSION. The Stilwell Clinic art selection committee is requesting a wood-carved or metal-fashioned statue depicting turtles found in northeastern Oklahoma. Statue Specifics • Bid Overview. o Initial Sketch. All sketches are due by March 30, 2015 by 4:00 p.m. ? Bid Details. Bids must include final commission price, materials to be used in constructing the proposed statue, and the full dimension of the proposed statue. ? Proof of Citizenship. Cherokee Nation law requires the purchase of art from Cherokee Nation citizens only. You must submit a copy of your Blue Card or Citizenship Card when submitting an initial sketch. No exceptions. o Committee Review. Committee will review initial sketches and select three finalists by April 3 2015. o Statue Models. If your sketch is selected as one of the three finalists, you will be awarded $1,500, therefore, an invoice for that amount must be submitted shortly after being notified your art has been selected as a finalist. o A model from the three finalists must be received no later than May 4, 2015 by 4:00 p.m. The deadline for completion of the final piece will be negotiated with the artist who is awarded the commission. • Description. The Stilwell Clinic art selection committee is requesting a wood-carved or metal-fashioned statue depicting turtles found in northeastern Oklahoma. • Material. The final commission must be constructed out of metal or wood only. The statue will be permanently housed indoors. • Size Restrictions. The maximum height of the statue is 8 feet tall, including the base. The width is negotiable.
