- Description
- CED, L.L.C. wholly-owned entity identified in the attached Statement of Work to furnish pricing to drill, log, and test a geothermal test well (thermal conductivity boring) to evaluate the local underground thermal properties, and geothermal yield potential
- Detail
- Before any sub-surface work begins, the contractor is responsible for securing the necessary operating clearances and ensuring site safety, obtaining utility permits for exploration drilling, and contacting Okie811 to coordinate a formal utility locate. The test well will be drilled to simulate the exact construction methods anticipated for the full-scale wellfield. Drill one vertical borehole to a nominal depth of 500 feet per attached well detail. Maintain a standard 4.5-inch to 6-inch diameter borehole. Collect and log formation cuttings at 10-foot intervals or at every distinct change in stratigraphy to document the local geology and water table dept. Install a 1.25-inch High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) thermally enhanced U-bend pipe assembly equipped with a factory-fused bottom U-bend. Tremie-grout the borehole from the bottom up using a thermally enhanced bentonite grout (Per Attached Specification) to ensure complete sealing and optimal thermal contact. Thermal Response Test following adequate grout curing time (minimum 48 to 72 hours), a formal Thermal Response Test (TRT) must be conducted. Operate the TRT testing rig continuously for a minimum of 48 hours to ensure data stability Provide a stable, continuous heat injection rate into the loop (typically 15 to 25 Watts per foot of borehole depth). Automatically record heat injection rates, flow rates, and entering/leaving fluid temperatures at intervals not exceeding 10 minutes. The final report must include Driller's Log The contractor will synthesize all field data into a comprehensive engineering report. The final report is to include the following. • Driller's Log: Detailed description of geologic strata, drilling rates, and water encounters. • As-Built Well Diagram: Exact measurements of bore depth, U-loop length, grout volumes, and grout specifications. • Thermal Analysis: Calculated values for undisturbed ground temperature, average thermal conductivity, and thermal resistance of the borehole. • Design Recommendations: Professional recommendations regarding drilling conditions, expected penetration rates, and wellfield scaling implications.
